Thai Airways Launches Unique Restaurant for Airplane Food Fans
Thai Airways Unveils Themed Restaurant for Aviation Enthusiasts
For those who relish the thrill of air travel, Thai Airways has a delightful surprise: a new restaurant that brings the essence of in-flight dining back to life. While airplane food may not always be celebrated for its gourmet status, this novel dining experience offers a unique way to savor those nostalgic meal moments.
A Nostalgic Dining Experience
In response to travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Thai Airways has launched a pop-up restaurant at their headquarters in Bangkok. Designed to evoke the feeling of being in the air, this special dining venue allows guests to relive the excitement of air travel through a distinctive in-flight meal experience.
Immersive Airplane Ambience
The restaurant’s design captures the essence of an aircraft cabin, adorned with the airline’s signature colors—purple, orange, and pink. The decor includes repurposed airplane parts such as engine components, windows, and fan blades, which have been creatively transformed into furniture. This themed setting, crafted from the airline’s old office cafeteria, adds an authentic touch to the experience.
A Taste of In-Flight Dining
The menu is a replica of what you might find on a Thai Airways flight. Breakfast is available from 7 a.m. with a selection of bakery items, while the international menu is offered from 9 a.m. Diners can choose between business and economy class seating. Meals are affordably priced between $3 and $5, and the staff don their in-flight uniforms to further enhance the authentic experience.
Expanding to More Locations
Currently, the restaurant serves approximately 2,000 meals daily, helping Thai Airways recover some of the revenue lost during the pandemic. The airline is exploring the possibility of transforming other office spaces into similar themed dining locations, so this unique restaurant concept may soon appear at an airport near you.
