Former Disney star Skai Jackson is facing a potential misdemeanor charge following her arrest on suspicion of spousal battery.
On Friday, around 5:10 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance at Universal Studios Hollywood involving Jackson, 22, according to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Officers at the scene identified Jackson as the “primary aggressor” and arrested her on suspicion of domestic battery.
Jackson was released a few hours after her arrest. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office to decide whether formal charges will be filed.
The DA’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Jackson is widely recognized for her role as a child star on the Disney Channel series Jessie, where she starred alongside Peyton List, Karan Brar, and the late Cameron Boyce as part of a high-profile family. The series, which aired from 2011 to 2015, led to a spinoff, Bunk’d, featuring List, Brar, and Jackson as the Ross kids who embark on adventures at Camp Kikiwaka in Maine. Jackson’s character, Zuri, left the show after three seasons.
In addition to her acting career, Jackson has voiced Glory Grant in Disney’s animated Marvel Rising series, competed on the 2020 season of Dancing With the Stars, and authored a memoir titled Reach for the Skai: How to Inspire, Empower and Clapback.
