How Did a US Woman Spend ₹ 6 Crore on Fake Jewellery?

US Woman Defrauded of ₹6 Crore by Jaipur Jeweler Selling Fake Jewellery

A jewellery shop owner in Jaipur has been accused of defrauding a US national by selling her fake jewellery valued at just ₹300 for a staggering ₹6 crore. This revelation came to light after the US embassy intervened, prompting local police to launch an investigation, as reported by Business Standard.

Several months ago, the US resident purchased the jewellery from a shop in Johri Bazaar, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The shop owner, Rajendra Soni, and his son Gaurav, provided a certificate of authenticity, which was later found to be fraudulent.

The victim realized the jewellery was counterfeit when she exhibited it in the US and discovered the fraud. Despite her attempts to reach out to the shop owners and file a complaint, no action was taken until the US Embassy intervened.

Upon visiting the jewellery store to confront the shop owner, her allegations were dismissed. When she attempted to file a formal complaint, the accused retaliated by filing a false case against her.

It was also reported that, after deceiving the foreign buyer, the accused jewellers purchased a flat worth ₹3 crore in Jaipur’s C Scheme area.
